This is a question that everyone wants to know nowadays! The reason for this is everyone wants to have a website be it a personal blog, a shopping site or a platform/organization where a group or groups of people take part in. It is an obvious fact that it will not be possible to make a website without the knowledge. Hence it is recommended to join some of the web designing courses that are being taught by several local institutes. Today we will guide you on the ways in which you can make a website. So let us dive into the steps directly without wasting further time.

Step 1: Visualizing the Website

The first step is no doubt the visualization of the website and your best friend in the process is just a pen and a paper. You can also use a whiteboard if you are in an office. The visualization takes place with drawing the website. It’s just like putting the entire plan that you have in your head into the paper. You will draw the user interface with your hand, the shapes of the buttons, the layout(s), placements of the buttons and the features that will be present on the website. It is only after this process that you will start the coding. The initial planning stage will be over after you are satisfied with the visualization process. Nowadays if you know, of course, you can also use software to emulate the website or even make the drawing(s). However, following the traditional method is best because it will give a boost to your creativity and will give you many new design ideas for your website.

Step 2: Coding your website in HTML

After the visualization process is over you can start with the coding part. This part involves developing the structure of the website first, then the colours and design, responsiveness, interactivity etc. Generally, these are taught in all the institutes that provide the web designing courses in Kolkata today.

You can begin the process of coding with the help of any text editor. There are plenty out there on the internet and most of them are open source such as Sublime Text, Atom, Brackets, and Visual Code etc. Some of them are paid too such as Dream Weaver, Komodo Edit etc.

As usual, the process of coding will start with HTML with which you will develop the structure of the website. After the coding part with the HTML is complete you can begin the design part with CSS.

Step 3:Coding the CSS of your website

After completing the HTML part comes the part of the designing. This part is done with a set of styling rules called CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets. By writing the rules you will position the elements on the webpage, apply colours, fonts and resize the images. If you are an advanced web designer you can even write your own CSS framework and grids. If you take up some web designing courses then you will gain in-depth knowledge on how to use CSS in a detailed manner.

Step 4: Adding responsiveness to the website

Today most of the websites are responsive. Website responsiveness refers to the fitting of the websites depending on the resolution of the device on which it is visible. Today we see that websites look very organized on not just desktops and laptops but also on smartphones, tablets etc. To do this you will have to use a CSS framework called Bootstrap. This framework allows writing some special CSS and HTML rules with which you can make the website fit on all types of devices. However, you need to download Bootstrap first and then add the link to your web pages so that the custom rules of Bootstrap work properly. With Bootstrap you can also add responsive buttons, icons, sliders etc.

Apart from Bootstrap, as mentioned in the last paragraph, there is also an option to make a website responsive manually. For this, you have to use CSS media query. This you can learn by joining any web designing courses in Kolkata.

Step 4: Adding interactivity to the website

If you wish to make the website a little bit attractive, not in just the plain design way but to provide some added experience, you must make the website interactive. For example, you can use some animations which will keep the users hooked to your website and explore it. This can be done with Javascript which is a client-side programming language.

Today Javascript has become one of the most popular used programming languages for designing and developing the web. There are frameworks in which you can build a website totally, for example, Angular, React, Ember, Meteor etc. But, we will not go into the details. We will use Javascript coding for form validations, animations etc. If you have completed some web designing courses then you are already aware of the power of this language.

Step 5: Using custom software to make websites

At present a lot of custom software and web applications like WIX, Google Web Designer etc have come into the market with the help of which you can create standard websites for yourself. These web applications/software are built for people who do not know web designing. However, no web designing courses in Kolkata will teach these tools because these are very easy to use and require no or little designing concepts. In most of the big companies, these custom web apps/software are not used because these provide very limited features.

These are some of the steps that as a web designer you need to follow. What we have discussed can be learnt in details by taking up some web designing courses from some institutes. You will find a lot of institutes today which impart these courses. However, it is best that you as a candidate find out an institute which will offer you the course comprehensively and with expert teachers and will help you to get a job in this dynamic and highly competitive industry.
